The HCSS Christmas card competition is back!

To help everyone get into the Christmas spirit at HCSS Education, we asked the children of employees to submit a card design that would be used as our official 2015 Christmas card.

We received lots of fantastic entries and we’d like to thank everyone who submitted a design. Each child who entered received a gift to thank them for their involvement.

The winners, picked by our CEO Howard Jackson, were Macy Walter and James Millward.

A big 'well done' to them both!

'The Rucksack Project'

This is the second year we have taken part in ‘The Rucksack Project’ run by The Wellspring in order to help homeless people and rough sleepers in Stockport. The project aims to provide essentials such as rucksacks, sleeping bags and fleeces to help the homeless over the winter period.

Mission Christmas - Cash for Kids

This is the 4th year running that we have supported Key 103's "Mission Christmas" appeal, which aims to provide a present for disadvantaged and underprivileged children on Christmas day.

Cash for Kids is Bauer Radio's network of local charities, which operates across 21 areas around the UK. Their mission is to respond to the need of children in our communities and inspire all children to live life to the full as well as achieve their individual potential.

HCSS Report Finds Pressure Mounting for Academy Status

HCSS has produced a wide-ranging report on attitudes towards the rise of academies and how it is affecting schools, heads, pupils and parents throughout the UK.

Our study of over 100 schools and academies in the UK found that schools feel under pressure to convert to academy status, with 82 per cent expressing the opinion that they are feeling more than just encouragement to convert. This is despite 59% of school respondents not wanting to convert.

The 2015 Autumn Statement & Spending Review: How it Affects Schools & Academies

The Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, has just delivered his 2015 Spending Review and Autumn Statement.

He spoke for just over an hour in a speech that was necessarily wide-ranging, in view of financial and geopolitical issues facing the nation and the world.

We thought we’d isolate the main points raised in the Spending Review that concern schools and education. The complete Review can be found here.

The Academy Futures report

Today sees the launch of our new report, The Academy Futures. In the report we take an insightful look into the changing education landscape and the rise of academies.

We explore the impact of this trend on both parents and teachers and the perceptions surrounding academy schools and the conversion process.

We then look into the barriers to academy conversion, the challenges schools may face when they first convert and how these issues can be overcome.
